If you want to import chemicals, you will have different obligations depending on whether your goods are a substance, mixture or a product.
The first thing you must do is to check whether your substance, mixture or product is encompassed by the European chemical regulations REACH and CLP. This will determine what obligations you have for the importation of such goods.
The European chemical regulations (REACH) on the registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals applies in Norway through the EEA Agreement. In Norway, these regulations have been incorporated into the REACH Regulations.
CLP regulates dangerous chemical substances and mixtures (classification and labelling).
In Norway, it is the Norwegian Environment Agency that is the responsible authority.
